Hudson Returns to INTERCEM Shipping Americas!

INTERCEM Shipping Americas held its eighth annual meeting in Boston this past week, bringing together top minds from “cement manufacturers, traders and ship owners, brokers, terminal operators, and equipment/service providers form across the US and beyond” to discuss the many challenges and changes facing the industry today.

Alongside panelists Kate Torpey, Executive Director, ASBA; Thomas Damsgaard, Head of Americas, BIMCO; Christopher Garcia, Head of Maritime Logistics Titan America; and Ben Nolan, Head of Research-Maritime, Stifel; the discussion centered around the proposed USTR Section 301 Penalties on Chinese built vessels and its potential implications on global supply and demand.

In the current climate, the discussion was particularly relevant to many of the conference attendees who were U.S. based importers of cementitious products, as these proposals would have a drastic impact on their import costs.

“While nobody knows exactly what happens next,” says Kopka, “it’s important to stay informed and continue to discuss ways we can all work together and navigate these uncertainties.”
