Hudson Goes Deep: Sponsoring the Boldest Marathon on Earth

This October, Hudson’s latest sponsorship plunges into uncharted territory—literally. With a charitable commitment of over A$46,000, Hudson is proud to support the World’s Deepest Marathon, a daring endurance challenge that pushes human limits 1,120 meters underground.
Held in the winding, pitch-black tunnels of the Garpenberg mine in Switzerland, this record-breaking race covers the full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers (26.2 miles). Runners will face total darkness—illuminated only by headlamps—as they navigate narrow, uneven terrain using 3D maps. It’s a brutal, beautiful way to spotlight the resilience of the human spirit—and the realities of modern mining.

The event is organized by BecomingX, co-founded by Bear Grylls OBE and Paul Gurney, in partnership with the International Council on Mining and Metals. Funds raised will support the BecomingX Foundation, which empowers young people worldwide, and the Wild At Heart Foundation, which rescues and rehomes dogs globally.
We’re thrilled to be part of such an exclusive and extraordinary event, and even more excited to sponsor one lucky soon-to-be-named runner who will proudly don the Hudson sails as they race alongside 59 other trailblazers far below sea level where our ships reside.
The goal? $1 million raised.
The challenge? A marathon. Deep in a mine. In the dark.
The reason? Courage. Commitment. Community.
The World’s Deepest Marathon supports both the BecomingX Foundation and the Wild At Heart Foundation. You can be part of this remarkable event by supporting Hudson’s sponsored runner, and these two incredible causes!
