Role Description
Successful candidates will be responsible for the commercial post-fixture operation of assigned dry bulk vessels trading internationally, overseeing all aspects of voyage execution from fixture conclusion through completion.
Key Responsibilities Include:
♦ Proactively managing voyage execution to optimize operational and commercial results
♦ Ensuring compliance with charter party terms and applicable regulatory requirements
♦ Actively monitoring vessel schedules and voyage progress, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce cost exposure
♦ Maintaining clear and timely communication with internal and external stakeholders across multiple time zones including charterers, owners, brokers, port agents, and captains
♦ Managing day-to-day operational matters and voyage data records
♦ Coordinating and optimizing bunker strategy, ‘remaining on board’ management, and routing decisions
♦ Proactively managing delays, congestion, weather disruptions, schedule changes, and other voyage risks
♦ Preparing laytime calculations, hire statements, and other voyage-related financial documentation, such as disbursement accounts, invoices, payables, and receivables
♦ Managing and resolving voyage-related claims, disputes, and contractual matters, including demurrage, detention, off-hire, and other post-fixture issues
Required Skills / Qualifications
♦ Strong analytical and numerical aptitude, with keen attention to detail
♦ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to correspond professionally across cultures and time zones
♦ Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
♦ Strong organizational skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
♦ Eagerness to learn the commercial and operational aspects of the shipping industry as well as international trade, maritime commerce and global logistics
♦ Self-motivated with a high degree of ownership and accountability
♦ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
Preferred but not required:
♦ Prior exposure to shipping, logistics, or commodity trading
♦ Familiarity with charter party terms
♦ Experience with voyage management systems
